Detective Drew Avon

He is a black man and sometimes being a cop and being Black seem to be in contradiction to one another. He feels sympathy for some people and understands how discrimination has shaped their lives. Still, he doesn't believe that excuses them from being involved in a life of crime.

He met Officer Angelo while working in Narcotics downtown. He took her under wing and started to spend more time with her on a case than his partner. This caused some friction between Detective Avon and his partner, Detective Storm but neither one of them could deny Officer Angelo had a "talent" for knowing where drug bust would occur. His partner, Detective Storm, even suggested Officer Angelo might have a criminal stake in the tips she was giving the department. The drug bust always involved "rivals" of her father and never any of his operations. Although Officer Angelo's father has never been officially named as a suspect in any illegal drug operation. The night of the Drug Bust Shooting, Drew and his partner were with Officer Angelo. This bust did involve the suspected operations of Officer Angelo's father.

In the ambush, Detective Avon was wounded and Detective Storm was mortally wounded. She died four days afterwards from the injuries he sustained. Shortly afterwards Officer Angelo was promoted to Detective and assigned to the 7th with Detective Avon as her partner.
